CONTINENTAL FOOTBALL CLUB ANNOUNCES
NEW GIRLS DIRECTOR OF COACHING.
Continental Football Club, the Philadelphia area’s premiere soccer club, announced new leadership by naming Carla DeSantis as the Girls Director of Coaching.
Carla brings a depth of professional coaching experience to Continental. She understands how to motivate players of all ages, as well as inspire coaches. Coach DeSantis has 20 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level at universities including the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, United States Coast Guard Academy, Minnesota State University Mankato, Middle Tennessee State University, Tulane University, The George Washington University, University of Rhode Island, and Framingham State University. DeSantis also coaches in the Olympic Development Program (ODP) as an East Regional staff coach. She has also coached in the semi-pro Women’s Premiere Soccer League (WPSL). DeSantis is a coach educator and national instructor for US Soccer, US Youth Soccer and the United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA).
Coach DeSantis boasts extensive expertise in soccer education and adds a wide breadth of knowledge to the girls’ program at Continental FC. In her latest role as Assistant Technical Director for the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (Mass Youth Soccer), DeSantis directed programming for coach education and player development for the entire state. She holds a current US Soccer “A License,” a Premier Diploma from United Soccer Coaches, and a National Youth License from US Youth Soccer. She has also held positions as the US Soccer Coaching Education Director, State Coach, and Vice President (ODP) for the Board of Directors for Soccer Rhode Island. Coach DeSantis has been on multiple states’ ODP staff and is a US Soccer Grassroots Instructor, a United Soccer Coaches Instructor and a National Instructor for US Youth Soccer.
Carla’s experience as an athlete parallels her expertise as a coach. At the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass), DeSantis was a two-sport athlete, and a four-year letter winner in soccer and track. She was a Division I All-American, All-New England, and a Conference All-Star in soccer. She was also a member of the U.S. National Women’s Soccer Team, and a US Soccer Amateur National Champion.
Academically, DeSantis received her undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology from UMass, and holds a Master’s Degree in Sport Management from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU).
